The New Mexico beach volleyball team is ready to hit the sand and take on Benedictine University at Mesa in its 2017 season opener in Mesa, Arizona on Thursday.
The Lobos just established the beach volleyball program two years ago, but have already drawn national attention and expect to build on the success from last year.
New Mexico posted an impressive 17-9 record last season, and the latest preseason DiG Magazine Poll placed University of New Mexico No. 18 in the national ranking.
“We really have a handle on what we need to do to be successful,” head coach Jeff Nelson said on media day.
