Going into New Mexico’s opening weekend, the Lobos’ goal was to garner two wins against fierce competition.
Upon leaving, head coach Jeff Nelson said UNM wanted to get four.
“We felt like if we got two wins over here this weekend, it was going to be a good weekend,” Nelson said. “Getting three wins is really good. Unfortunately, leaving we felt like we should have had four.”
UNM took two wins in both matches on Friday, taking down ASU 3-2 at noon and achieving a 5-0 sweep against Colorado Mesa later in the day.
While Friday left the Lobos with an unblemished record, Saturday was a bit tougher for New Mexico.
