Hurry up and wait.
In a nutshell, that’s the week of basketball facing the UNM Lobos. On Tuesday they got sped up to a pace at which they weren’t comfortable in a loss at UNLV. Now they return home for a Saturday game against a Wyoming Cowboys team that has proven to be the best in the league at dictating tempo, albeit at a sometimes agonizingly slow pace.
The Lobos’ preference is to play fast, but on their own terms. UNLV was accommodating with a fast style Tuesday night. And while the Lobos handled the full court pressure with relatively low turnovers, they seemed to stay in a frantic press-breaking mode too often, even when they should have backed off and set up more patient, methodical half-court sets.
