WASHINGTON -- Devils coach John Hynes still considers center Brian Boyle a possibility to play in the Devils' regular season opener on Oct. 7.
Boyle, who was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia at the start of training camp, has not practiced or played during the preseason.
Boyle has been around the Devils' facility during the preseason, skating on his own on occasion. He was away from the team earlier this week, but Hynes said Boyle will be back Thursday and will join the Devils on a team bonding trip to West Point, which starts Sunday.
