NEWARK -- The Devils got there first exposure to first-overall pick Nico Hischier at Development Camp, and no one got a better look than defenseman Steven Santini, who roomed with Hischier all week.
The pairing made sense for the Devils. Santini returned for his fifth Development Camp and entered as one of the veteran players, while Hischier wanted to get his first glimpse at NHL life.
Living with Hischier for a week gave Santini a close-up perspective on the 18-year-old.
