PITTSBURGH -- Taylor Hall scored the game-winning goal 27 seconds into overtime to lift the Devils to a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday at PPG Paints Arena.
With the goal plus assists on goals by Will Butcher and Nico Hischier in regulation, Hall set a new career high in points with 81 for the season.
The game went to overtime after Penguins erased a two-goal deficit in the third period, striking twice in the opening 10:52 of the frame to negate a big second period for the Devils.
Sidney Crosby set up the Penguins' first goal of the third, winning a face-off to get the puck to defenseman Brian Dumoulin, who rocketed a slap shot under the crossbar to pull to Penguins within 3-2 at 3:13.
