With Brett Pesce and Dougie Hamilton sidelined, Simon Nemec has stepped into a key role on the New Jersey Devils’ blue line. The former second overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft is showing significant growth in both his offensive and defensive game. At just 21 years old, turning 22 this February, Nemec is already proving that he belongs in high-pressure situations and can handle big minutes against top competition.
Through 21 games this season, Nemec has recorded four goals and eight assists for 12 points. While those numbers might not jump off the page compared to some of the team’s forwards, his contributions extend far beyond scoring.
