Rick Dhaliwal: The Vancouver Canucks have traded defenseman Alex Biega to the Detroit Red Wings for winger David Pope.
The Red Wings were one of the teams that showed some interest in Biega when he was placed on waivers last week.
Ben Kuzma: Canucks GM Jim Benning on Biega: “I drafted Alex when I was in Buffalo, so we go way back. He was good for our younger players to do the work and I gave him my word that we were moving on from him, but if I could find a spot in the league for him, I would try to work that out.
