NEWARK -- Nico Hischier, the No. 1 pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, signed his NHL entry-level contract with the Devils on Saturday following the conclusion of the team's Development Camp.
The three-year deal will carry a salary of $925K per season, the maximum allowed for Hischier, along with maximum performance bonuses.
The Devils announced Hischier will wear No. 13 in New Jersey, becoming the second player to wear the number with the Devils. Forward Michael Cammalleri became the first player to do so in 2015-16.
General manager Ray Shero met with the media a few hours before Hischier signed his deal, and when talking about the ELC, Shero said it was just a formality at that point.
