Technically, the Devils' first home game of the 2018-19 season will be played in Sweden, when they will play their first regular-season game against the Edmonton Oilers at 1 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, Oct. 6, at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden.
But their actual home opener at Prudential Center in Newark will be on Thursday, Oct. 11, when they host the defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals. The teams will have a 7 p.m. face-off at The Rock.
The Devils have won their past two home openers at Prudential Center.
