The New Jersey Devils lost to the New York Rangers 5-3, but the team came out of the game mostly unscathed. Arseny Gritsyuk looked good, and Nico Daws did not. Neither team played its NHL lineup, but there were some takeaways after the game. For the most part, the Devils could attribute the negatives to a rough Daws performance, but the rest of the game was pretty good.
The Devils got quite a few power-play minutes, including at the end of the game when things got increasingly chippy. There were multiple fights in the game, all fought by Devils’ prospect Nathan Legare.
