The Devils knew what was coming when they stepped onto the ice for practice at the Prudential Center on Monday in Newark.
Following two straight losses, including a 5-2 clunker on Saturday agains the Rangers, the Devils saw their usual level of compete disappear over a five-period stretch.
So in Monday's 45-minute session, the Devils were hard at work in physical battles, aiming to reestablish the compete they need to win games.
"Every team in the league goes through that at some point. It's about how quickly you can nip it in the bud and really get that part out of your game," forward Taylor Hall said.
