In the first period, the Devils came out strong and fast. They registered 11 shots on goal, which is their first time reaching double-digit shots in the first period in three games. They’ve only done that in three of their last seven games. They had shots on goal from a number of different players, including a beautiful and somewhat unexpected scoring chance from Tyler Kennedy. However, no dice. The first period ended scoreless with the Devils leading the shots, 11-8.
