Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov won't face a fine or suspension for his hit on Devils defenseman Sami Vatanen during Game 4 of the team's Stanley Cup Playoff series, NJ Advance Media confirmed.
Vatanen was forced to leave the game after Kucherov delivered a booming check to the defenseman's body and head. The main point of contact was deemed to be the body, with no unavoidable contact to the head.
Vatanen did not return to the game after taking the hit in the first period, and Devils coach John Hynes said the defenseman was day-to-day with an upper body injury.
