Patrik Elias has called New Jersey his second home. Now it's official.
The 41-year-old Elias was sworn in as an United States citizen on Thursday in Newark. Elias played 1,240 games over 20 seasons with the Devils before retiring in April of 2017.

The Devils honored Elias at the end of the 2017 season, after he retired following a comeback attempt earlier in the season.
