Devils eliminated from postseason in Game 5 loss to Lightning | Rapid reaction

The Tampa Bay Lightning offense was supposed to give the Devils fits. In the end, it was the Lightning defense that ended the Devils' playoff hopes.

The Devils' lone goal came late in the third period while trailing by two goals, and they struggled to generate offense in a 3-1 loss to the Lightning in Game 5 of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series on Saturday at Amalie Arena.

The Lightning won the series, 4-1, eliminating the Devils for the postseason.

Cory Schneider kept the Devils alive all game, stopping 35 of he 37 shots he faced while anchoring five successful penalty kills by the Devils.
