On April 5, 2018, the New Jersey Devils clinched a playoff berth for the first time in six seasons. Led by eventual MVP Taylor Hall and a core of talent featuring forwards Kyle Palmieri, Nico Hischier, and Jesper Bratt, the Devils overachieved following several years of rebuilding. New Jersey also featured a hot streak from Keith Kinkaid (26-10-3 overall). Not even a year later, however, the Devils are near the bottom of the overall standings.
