The Devils will host the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the Prudential Center to open the season. Along with kicking off the new campaign, it will likely be the NHL debut for the Devils' No. 1 overall pick from the 2017 NHL Draft — potentially Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier.
The No. 1 pick and the Devils could go head-to-head against the 2016 No. 1 overall pick, Auston Matthews, and the Toronto Maple Leafs north of the border in the third game of the season.
The Devils and Rangers won't have to waste much time in renewing their rivalry.
