Wright marks first MLS start with first goal: “He was just waiting for a chance”

NEW YORK – Brad Friedel called upon his New England Revolution side to put forth “a monumental effort” on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, where the Revs were staring down the league’s only remaining team with an unbeaten home record, New York City FC.

Friedel’s players heeded that call, scratching and clawing their way to an enormous 1-0 victory, snapping their nine-game winless run and pulling to within three points of the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference – with a game in hand – in the process.

“It’s a really big point in our season,” said Brad Knighton, who made five saves to keep a clean sheet in his first start of the year.
