FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Chris Tierney’s dramatic late winner sealed three precious points for the New England Revolution in their home opener against the Colorado Rapids on Saturday, but it wasn’t the only pivotal moment in the Revs’ 2-1 victory.
Third-year goalkeeper Matt Turner, making his home debut at Gillette Stadium, also provided a game-changing play, diving to his right to save Jack Price’s penalty in the 53rd minute.
“That was a big moment,” said head coach Brad Friedel. “You need all players, if they have the opportunity, to be sort of the heroes at times in games, and Matt had the opportunity today with a very important penalty save.
