Revolution sign a No. 10 as a Designated Player

After heavy speculation, it was announced on Wednesday that Gil has signed a Designated Player contract that will bring him to the United States. According to Frank Dell’Apa of The Boston Globe, Gil will make $2 million a year.

Gil has spent his entire career in Europe, starting with Valencia before spending time with Elche, Aston Villa, and Deportivo La Coruña. In sum, Gil has played 180 games across all competitions, collecting 13 goals and 14 assists.

Gil is expected to be an attacking threat for the Revolution, according to general manager Michael Burns and head coach Brad Friedel.
