Though the Revolution underperformed in 2016—missing the playoffs for the first time since 2012—the club’s fan base stayed true.
Out of 20 MLS clubs, the Revolution ranked 10th in average attendance, welcoming 20,185 fans per match, according to Sports Business Daily. This attendance rate surpassed that of Supporter’s Shield winners FC Dallas (14,094), as well as Eastern Conference rivals D.C. United (17,081) and Columbus Crew SC (17,125).
In typical fashion, the Seattle Sounders led the pack with a weekly attendance of 42,636, hosting 11,000 more fans, on average, than second-place Orlando City SC.
Last season, the Revolution ranked 13th in MLS with an average attendance of 19,627 fans.
