Revolution 1, Timbers 1: Home game not enough to break Revs’ winless streak

The New England Revolution’s winless streak is now at nine straight after they tied the Portland Timbers 1-1 on Saturday night.

It was a bright start for the Revolution, who almost scored in the first minute. The high press produced a turnover in an opportune place, allowing Scott Caldwell to find Kelyn Rowe. Rowe, who was making his first start since Jul. 18, used a backheel to put Teal Bunbury in on goal, but the striker couldn’t finish.

The rest of the first half was rather mundane with neither side offering much of note.
