When the 2017 SuperDraft begins at 3 p.m. today, 237 amateur soccer players—all of whom have been deemed draft eligible—will wait for a chance to don an MLS scarf. Only 88 of those players will hear their name called. And even fewer will suit up for an MLS club.
One of these players will join expansion-side Minnesota United as the first overall pick, though recent rumors suggest the club could move the selection elsewhere. Atlanta United and the Chicago Fire, respective holders of the second and third pick, have also expressed interested in swapping spots.
