FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Jay Heaps has built the New England Revolution’s roster with a focus on continuity and stability, and heading into the 2016 campaign that kicks off on Sunday afternoon, his Revolution side has both in the center back pairing of Jose Goncalves and Andrew Farrell.
One year ago, Goncalves and Farrell were just forming the roots of a budding partnership, as the latter made the shift from right back to center back following the departure of A.J. Soares.
There were, as expected, a few bumps along the way in 2015, but with an entire season together under their belts and countless training sessions to learn each other’s tendencies and abilities, Goncalves and Farrell head into 2016 as an established center back pairing.
