Chris Tierney done for the season after tearing his ACL

Chris Tierney has made 20 or more starts in eight straight seasons dating back to 2010. But that streak won’t continue this year.

On Friday, the Revolution announced that Tierney tore his right right anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Wednesday’s match against Atlanta United. The 32-year-old left back exited the match in the 43rd minute while clutching his right knee. He will undergo surgery in the coming weeks and will not feature again this season. The Revolution hope Tierney will return to action during the 2019 preseason, though at this point, it’s nearly impossible to predict a timetable for the 11-year veteran’s recovery.
