Carles Gil isn’t sure where he’ll be in the future, but right now he’s happy in MLS.
After eight seasons in Europe, Gil made the jump to New England in 2019. It wasn’t a move he ever anticipated, but it’s one he’s glad he made.
“I came from a period where for one reason or another I wasn’t enjoying things for a few years,” Gil said via a translator on Wednesday. “I came here to gain some confidence and I’m very happy of the decision I made.”
Gil’s talent was on full display during his first MLS season as he collected 10 goals and 14 assists en route to being named as the league’s Newcomer of the Year.
