Bruce Arena taking cautious approach to Carles Gil after his injury

The New England Revolution will move Carles Gil along slowly, according to head coach Bruce Arena.

Gil returned to the Revs on Monday after rehabbing in Spain. The team’s captain felt good enough to play against the Philadelphia on Friday, contributing 24 minutes.

It was a moment of joy for Gil, though he admits that he’s not at 100%.

“I need to train more with the team, to get more minutes,” Gil explained. “Maybe I’m 50, 60 percent, but maybe in one or two weeks, I will be good. So, I’m very happy.”

The Revs will take a cautious approach to the MLS MVP candidate as they want to make sure that he’s fit for the playoffs.
