On Sunday, the nicest guy in the New England Revolution locker room got a red card.
In the 93rd minute of the Revs-Crew game, Andrew Farrell was sent off for a mistimed tackle on Waylon Francis. Farrell had his cleat up as he was looking to settle an aerial ball. With his focus keenly on this task, the defender didn’t see an onrushing Francis, who immediately collapsed upon contact.
Farrell showed genuine concern after the foul, bending over Francis to see if he was okay. Referee Alan Kelly soon arrived to the scene to eject Farrell.
