2017 MLS Draft: Revolution select Napo Matsoso of Kentucky

Eleven picks after choosing forward Brian Wright of the University of Vermont, the New England Revolution selected midfielder Napo Matsoso of Kentucky with the 31st overall pick.

Matsoso will report to Revs’ camp after four years of collegiate soccer, during which he collected 18 goals and 19 assists. As a senior, the 22-year-old was a NSCAA Second Team All-American and NSCAA All-Southeast Region First Team member.

Matsoso was born in Lesotho, but left when he was 15 years old to explore soccer options in the United States. The move to Louisville proved fruitful, but also removed him from his parents, who he hasn’t seen in approximately seven-and-a-half years.
