New England Patriots wide receiver Efton Chism III was the talk of the early spring practices. That talk seemingly died down during training camp, but it came back in a big way in Friday's preseason opener against the Washington Commanders.
Chism led the Patriots on the night with six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came on a pass from fellow rookie Ben Wooldridge, who found Chism on a short crosser. Chism shook the defender in coverage and ran into the end zone to add to the offensive onslaught.
It was a play that strengthened the Eastern Washington standout's argument for a roster spot.
