INDIANAPOLIS -- The thought, laughable now, was that the Indianapolis Colts could overtake the New England Patriots as the best team in the AFC this season.
That was the thought.
The Colts, who lost to the Patriots by 38 points in the AFC championship game last season, added Frank Gore, Andre Johnson, Trent Cole and Todd Herremans to go with Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton and the rest of the returning cast. The Patriots looked like they might take a step back after losing cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork.
