Texans expected to request interview with Patriots’ Nick Caserio about vacant general manager position

Earlier today, the Houston Texans made a major personnel move: general manager Brian Gaine was relieved of his duties after the club conducted a “thorough evaluation” of its football operations. The firing certainly qualifies as a curious one — not just because of its timing five months into the Texans’ offseason: Gaine, after all, was hired by Houston just seventeen months ago and oversaw a team that went 11-5 and won the AFC South.

With Gaine no longer part of the organization, the Texans are obviously in the market for a new general manager — and it looks like they are targeting a familiar face: according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Houston is expected to request an interview with New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio.
