Steelers to sign ex-Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers

Sept. 9 (UPI) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers plan to sign safety Jabrill Peppers, coach Mike Tomlin confirmed to reporters Tuesday. They will face the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

Peppers' signing came two days after Steelers starting short safety DeShon Elliott hurt his knee in a 34-32 win over the New York Jets on Sunday in East Rutherford, N.J.

"We will be signing Jabrill today and get him up to speed about what it is we will ask him to do," Tomlin said.

Peppers spent the last three seasons with the New England Patriots. He was released through the final wave of roster cuts.
