Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz reacts to controversial penalty in loss to Patriots

Until 5:06 left in the fourth quarter of their Thursday night game against the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers had played a clean game. They had not been flagged once compared to the Patriots’ six infractions up to that point.

However, on a 4th-and-3 long snapper Christian Kuntz was penalized for an apparent false start — a flag that was quite controversial after it appeared Patriots linebacker Jahlani Tavai had moved first. Both teams’ reactions pointed that way as well.

However, the referees saw the play differently.

“I thought it was a first down for us,” Kuntz said after the game, via Chris Adamski of TribLive.
