It was reportedly because Godwin talked to his wife and decided that money wasn’t the most important factor in choosing the next step in his career.
The Athletic’s Dan Pompei took a deep dive into the 29-year-old Godwin’s free agency process, which saw him ultimately re-sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Patriots clearly wanted Godwin. His agent reported told him he’d be leaving “generational money” on the table if he walked away from New England’s offer.
