Source: Patriots to release kicker Mike Nugent

The New England Patriots are releasing kicker Mike Nugent, a source confirmed to ESPN.

Nugent was signed by the team on Oct. 3 to replace Stephen Gostkowski who was put on injured reserve.

The 37-year-old Nugent was 5-of-8 on field goals and 15-of-16 on extra points. On Sunday, he missed a 34-yard attempt and had a 29-yard try blocked in the team's 27-13 win over Cleveland.

The Patriots will likely re-enter the market for place kicker, as they don't have another on the roster.

Nugent's release was first reported by MondayMorningQuarterback.
