Aug. 26—It was a training camp trade that surprised no one. The New England Patriots dealt running back Sony Michel to the Los Angeles Rams on Wednesday.
When the Patriots declined the option on Michel's fifth year (2022), which would have cost $4.5 million, on May 3, all of New England pretty much figured his future was up in the air.
The only slight surprise was what the Patriots got in return, only a conditional fifth and sixth round draft pick.
For a former first round pick, that's akin to a bag of balls.
