Reports: Roger Goodell refuses to step aside in Tom Brady's appeal

Roger Goodell is digging in.

The NFL commissioner has denied the NFL Players Association's request that he recuse himself as appeals officer for Tom Brady's four-game suspension, CBS Sports and ESPN reported.

Goodell said earlier this week he wants to hear from Brady personally to explain his side of the case in the wake of the punishment handed down in the wake of the Wells Report.

The NFLPA has said it intends to call Goodell as a witness in Brady's appeal hearing.
