The New York Giants trimmed their roster to 53 players earlier this week, and that included the release of local hero and fan favorite, quarterback Tommy DeVito.
During his Wednesday press conference, general manager Joe Schoen said the team would have loved DeVito back, but he was claimed by the New England Patriots. He also said the team would roll full-steam ahead without a quarterback on their practice squad.
"We're just going to go with three (starters) for right now," Schoen told reporters.
That approach could be short-lived.
Justin Dunk of 3 Down Nation reports that the Giants intend to host Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma for a workout in East Rutherford.
