Patriots were among several teams hoping to sign veteran WR (report)

The New England Patriots were one of several teams interested in Mike Evans before he re-signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a five-year deal Monday morning. The Patriots, who need a true No. 1 receiver, were “hoping to land” the veteran in free agency, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported.

Evans was set to hit free agency later this month, but he came to terms on a deal with the Bucs with $52 million to keep him in Tampa Bay.

The Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars, per Russini, were also interested in signing Evans this offseason.
