The New England Patriots got some good and bad news heading into Sunday's regular season opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Let's start off with the bad news first.
On Friday, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel announced that All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez would be out for the Week 1 game. The star defensive back is still dealing with the lingering hamstring injury he suffered in training camp. With Gonzalez out, the team will likely turn to Alex Austin and Carlton Davis III as their top two cornerbacks against the Raiders.
The good news for the Patriots ahead of the opener is that injured left tackle Will Campbell has been green-lit to play.
