Patriots sign undrafted rookie Jay Person following minicamp tryout, per report

The New England Patriots have made an addition to the 90-man roster following rookie minicamp.

The organization signed undrafted edge defender Jay Person on Monday, according to a report from Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston.

Person, 24, was among the tryout players on hand at Gillette Stadium over the weekend. The 6-foot-2, 233-pound Chattanooga product began his collegiate run at Appalachian State in 2018. He went on to appear in 48 games for the Mocs while tallying 228 tackles, including 56 for loss, with 27 sacks.

Along the way arrived five batted passes, nine forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries for Person, who completed his undergraduate degree in 2022 and set a career high with 9.
