Patriots sign D-II standout RB after one tryout practice, release vet

The New England Patriots signed running back Shane Watts and released veteran Deneric Prince on Tuesday. This was officially announced by the team on their website.

Watts visited the team on Monday afternoon. He comes to New England from Fort Hays State, where he was one of the best Division II running backs in the country. He was named an All-American Second-Team selection in 2024 after racking up 1,303 rushing yards, 449 receiving yards and 17 total touchdowns. He initially played defensive back in 2023 before switching over to running back.

Prince began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023.
