Patriots’ Robert Kraft, other NFL owners ‘hypocritical’ for supporting President Trump, says Gregg Popovich: ‘I think they put themselves in a position that’s untenable’

Un an interview with the New York Times, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich harshly criticized Patriots owner Robert Kraft and other NFL owners for supporting President Donald Trump.

Speaking with the Times’ Maureen Dowd, Popovich said Kraft, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and the other NFL figureheads who had donated to Trump’s Inaugural Committee were “hypocritical” for doing so while promising to listen to players and allowing them to peacefully protest social injustice.

“It’s just hypocritical,” Popovich told Dowd. “It’s incongruent. It doesn’t make sense. People aren’t blind. Do you go to your staff and your players and talk about injustices and democracy and how to protest?
