The Patriots are reportedly making a change to the team’s defensive backfield.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New England is set to release safety Jabrill Peppers. The 29-year-old safety had been with the Patriots since he signed as a free agent in 2022.
As Schefter noted, Peppers is still owed $4.32 million in guaranteed money on his deal in 2025. It stems from the three-year contract extension he signed with New England in the summer of 2024 that was worth $24 million, and included $11.68 million guaranteed.
Originally a first-round pick by the Browns out of Michigan, Peppers was traded to the Giants in 2019 as part of a blockbuster deal that sent Odell Beckham Jr.
