On Thursday, the New England Patriots announced the release of defensive tackle Wilfried Pene. Pene went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent.
The Patriots signed Pene through the NFL's International Pathway Program, as the defensive tackle was born in Tours, France, so he was not holding a roster spot.
Therefore, the move does not create any extra space on New England's full 90-man roster.
Prior to signing with the Patriots, Pene played four years at Virginia Tech. The Hokie played in 47 games, accumulating 73 tackles, 10 TFLs, five sacks, and a pass defended.
