Doug Kyed of NESN is reporting that the Patriots have re-signed LB Jonathan Freeny to a contract on Wednesday.
Freeny, 28, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers back in 2011. He spent four years in Miami before signing on with the Patriots as an unrestricted free agent in 2015.
The Patriots signed him to a two-year contract extension coming out of the preseason last year but elected to cut him loose on Saturday as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.
The Ravens signed him to a contract but was recently cut loose.
