The New England Patriots announced on Tuesday that they are signing first-year linebacker R. J. Moton and placing rookie fullback Brock Lampe on injured reserve.

Moton last played in the UFL for the Michigan Panthers. He played college football at Michigan from 2021-2022 before transferring to Florida for his last two seasons. In his time with both teams, he appeared in 47 games and racked up 88 tackles, two sacks and five pass deflections.

Moton's arrival adds depth on the defensive side of the ball, while the offense loses a promising young player in Lampe, who looked like a natural fit in Josh McDaniels' offense.
