Patriots put dark horse roster hopeful on IR, sign veteran RB

The New England Patriots are reportedly putting undrafted rookie running back Lan Larison on injured reserve, according to Boston Herald's Doug Kyed.

It's a tough break for the former UC Davis standout, who many viewed as a dark horse candidate to make the final 53-man roster. He was right in the mix as a depth option behind Rhamondre Stevenson, TreVeyon Henderson and Antonio Gibson.

In Friday's preseason opener, he had seven carries for 35 yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.0 yards per carry against the Washington Commanders. He also hauled in two receptions for nine yards in the game.
